DAY ONE ( 10/18):The Jamaica Project USA toured the school with the Hilton Corporate team (Curtis Davis - Hilton Brand Performance Director, Melinda Fulton - Senior Manager for Hilton Brand Hospitality & Mark Nogal - Head of the Hilton Curio Brand). We visited with the students in each classroom and surveyed the work to be done on 10/19 & 10/20.
DAY TWO (10/19):We arrived at the school with 4 buses of The Jamaica Project USA volunteers, Hilton Corporate Team and 45 employees from the Hilton Montego Bay, Curio Dunn's River and Curio Runaway Bay. We got to work painting, building shelves & sorting library books. The Curio Dunn's River generously provided sandwiches, a hot lunch and dessert for the volunteers, staff & students.
DAY THREE (10/20): The team returned to complete the project. We continued to sort the new library books & stocked books in the library, assembled furniture including leather office chairs for the computer center, hang motivational posters in both rooms & setup computers. Once we wrapped up the project, we have a short program which included song and dance by the students followed by the ribbon cutting for both rooms and cooking demonstration for the older students by the Curio Dunn's River Chef. This hotel provided sandwiches, a hot meal and dessert on this day as well for volunteers, staff & students! We distributed school supplies, Hygiene kits and snacks to the 200 students plus 60 students ages 3-5 who joined us from the Early Childhood Learning Center in the community.
